I work for a big high street bank & we offer a bank account under a chikds control from age 11, either with a cash point card with a £50 per day withdrawal limit or with parental permission a visa debit card. Obviously no ability to spend what isn’t there or direct debits etc
Is it possible that the last account is wrong?
The assumption you are making that because you can’t reconcile the figures in the last accounts to your client’s records the accounts must be wrong may be a correct one. But with respect without the breakdowns of the opening balances you have no idea. It is equally possible that the records are wrong and the accounts are right.
What happens if I don’t use my bank account for 2yrs?
If you don’t use your account for more than 2yrs, then as per RBI your account would be categorised as Dormant and you need to give a request and the KYC to the bank for reactivating it. And the bank has no other way to penalise you other than deducting any balance that may be in the account.
Can a bank account be incorrect at year end?
Yes if I receive the info then all may become clear, but if there is one bank account and the number at year end does not agree and the debtors are out and no trade creditors or Vat creditor then they look incorrect to me.
