You cannot cash a photocopy of a check because if you photocopy a check, you are actually counterfeiting that item and state laws make it a criminal offense to pass counterfeit checks.
Can I use photocopied cheque?
A photocopy of a cheque would have VOID all over it. Therefore, anything you write on it is overridden by the VOID, even if you prove it’s your account, etc. You’ll have better luck with a blank sheet of paper.
Can you pay in someone else’s cheque?
A cheque can be cashed by someone other than the person named on the front of the cheque if they counter-sign it. Check with your financial institution to find out if they accept counter-signed cheques. Not all financial institutions accept them.

The App for a B account, from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, allows cheques up to £500 as long as they weren’t signed more than six months ago. You’ll find it via the menu in the top right-hand corner. Bank of Scotland is another where the app works in exactly the same way as Halifax’s. Some of the notable banks which don’t have this feature.
