Where do you find the mint mark on a silver dollar?
Carson City silver dollars are identified by a “CC” mint mark, Denver silver dollars by a “D,” San Francisco silver dollars by an “S,” New Orleans silver dollars by an “O,” and Philadelphia silver dollars by the omission of a mint mark. The mint mark for Morgan and Peace silver dollars can be found on the reverse side of the coin.
Where was the Lady Liberty Silver Dollar made?
The coin was minted in several locations over its lifespan, including Carson City, California. The coin features a profile of Lady Liberty on the front and an eagle on the reverse. The mint mark of each Morgan silver dollar can be found on the reverse below the wreath. Coins minted in Carson City feature the mint mark “CC.”
Where was the first silver dollar coin made?
The first Morgan Dollar coins were struck in 1878 at the Philadelphia Mint. Following some design revisions, they were also struck at San Francisco and Carson City that same year, because of the facilities’ proximity to the silver mines in the western United States.
