The resort of Val d’Isère is a firm favourite of the young and young at heart. It has a good snow record and a vast network of superb skiing.

The focal point of Val d’Isère is the pedestrianised ‘old’ village which boasts an 11th century church and some genuine old farmhouses that date from the time when the settlement was a hunting lodge for the Ducs de Savoie.

This world class resort considered to be one of Europe’s most popular, stretches from La Daille to Le Fornet and is connected to the resort of Tignes. Together they form Espace Killy, one of Europe’s most popular ski areas. The resort’s altitude and microclimate ensures that the resort enjoys a long season.

The main street, with its wide pavements and Savoyard style wood and stone cladded buildings, enhance the character of the resort. Smart boutiques and designer hotels vie for position amongst the friendly après ski bars, fine dining restaurants and legendary nightclubs.

For the beginner there are a few nursery slopes served by free lifts and some gentle greens higher up in Bellevarde and Solaise. Perfect slopes for the intermediate skier are to be found from Bellevarde down to la Daille and down through the Iseran valley. Expert skiers can tackle the famous ‘face’ piste, as well as the off pistes areas on the Le Fornet side.

Its modern lift system means that queuing is kept at a minimum as there are high speed lifts across the area. The resort of Val d’Isère is connected by a frequent, free bus service that links all the bases.

Off-mountain activities include ice-skating, ice driving, tobogganing, helicopter rides, hand gliding, parapenting, husky dog safaris and a sports centre with indoor pool.
