Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe and forms part of the ‘Three Valleys’ ski domain. It offers some of the best skiing in the region and attracts serious skiers of all abilities. Val Thorens is known for its long hours of sunshine and an excellent snow record making it an excellent choice for early and late season breaks.

As a more contemporary resort, it is less expensive than its more fashionable neighbours of Courchevel and Méribel and offers good value for money and a wide choice of accommodation.

Its unique location in the heart of the ski area, almost guarantees direct access to the slopes from your doorstep no matter where you stay. The resort is based on three levels and the resort’s compact centre sits mid-level which is car-restricted and has a variety of restaurants and bars to suit all pockets. Its après ski is livelier than most other high altitude resorts and its buzzing night life rocks until late.

The lift system is impressive with high capacity gondolas and fast chairs in most of the key areas.

Val Thorens is the perfect place to learn to ski or board. It has gentle green slopes by the resort centre that are ideal for the novice. For the intermediate skier the resort offers possibility the best skiing opportunities within the ‘three valleys’ area and superb off-piste areas such as the scenic Vallon du Lou. There is a good park for snow boarders above Val Thorens and a boarder-cross on the Maurienne side. There is also good choice of mountain restaurants dotted throughout the region.

The resort boasts an excellent six km toboggan run, on a dedicated piste, snow shoe walks, ice driving, a climbing wall and hang-gliding.
