Gaschurn sits in Austria’s Montafon Valley and is part of the Silvretta Montafon ski domain, the largest ski area in the Voralberg. This extensive ski area has a something for everyone from steep challenging pistes and deep powder slopes to the gentler, family-friendly runs – a true snow sports paradise.

Set amongst stunning alpine scenery, this attractive, traditional Austrian village has a wealth of history and character that is still entwined in the modern everyday life, is considered to be an ideal spot for families or those looking for that extra few days skiing.

The region boasts a vast area of marked ski runs of various difficulty levels, numerous cable cars and lift systems. There are some long ski descents including the run from Silvretta Nova to the Madrisella Valisera and the Lake Valley Kreuzjochsattel through the longest ski tunnel in the world to Schruns and some good freeride areas.

The area is ideally suited for beginners to strong intermediates; however, there is some excellent off-piste skiing to be had and to make the most of this we recommend a guide.

The resort’s ski schools have a modern and fun approach to learning all of the snow sports that are on offer, for children and adults alike.

Mountain restaurants offering good food and an excellent atmosphere are dotted throughout the ski area and provide a welcome place to recharge your batteries. The large terraces of Sternbar at Nova Stoba and Europe’s largest ski bar at the Bella Nova are hot spots, especially over the weekends.

For the non-skier there is an abundance of groomed winter hiking and cross country trails through the beautiful winter wonderland landscapes, as well as tobogganing and paragliding. Alternatively, why not try exploring the area on snowshoes.
