Saalbach is an attractive, affluent village with a lively atmosphere. Its reputation as a fun-loving party town is played out by the diverse bunch of cosmopolitan clientele that range from the upmarket ski set to budget skier who tend to rub shoulders in the town’s lively bars and nightclubs.

The resort has traditional style buildings and offers a good mix of contemporary and traditional accommodation. The village has many sport shops, but lacks the boutique style shopping available in many of the alpine resorts.  Its pleasant cafés and good restaurants offer a wide choice of cuisine.  Après ski is high on the agenda and the nightlife often extends to the early hours, so perhaps not the resort for those seeking a quiet and peaceful vacation.

With over 200 kilometres of pistes and impressive lift systems conveniently close to the centre of the village, Saalbach-Hinterglemm is one of the largest ski areas in Austria.

It is Ideally suited to beginner and intermediate skiers as there is limited steep terrain for experts.  The resort’s ski circus circuit is suitable for confident intermediates who will enjoy this full day ski adventure. However, unlike other circuits, it can be interrupted along the way to descend to the valley floor,  or even the most timid skier can stop off and sample the wonderful mountain huts (of which there are many), to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy traditional and tasty food – and Gluhwein, of course!!

Off-mountain activities include paragliding, snow shoeing, ice carts, snowmobiling, sleigh rides and walking trails.
