Saas Fee is a charming, picture postcard, alpine village, surrounded by some of the highest mountain peaks in Switzerland. Once a traditional farming community, the resort has retained many of its original buildings. Its friendly relaxed atmosphere and traffic-free streets make it an ideal family holiday destination.

Situated amongst spectacular glacial mountain scenery.  Its high altitude and north-facing slopes ensure an excellent snow record until late in the season and provides a good late- season option, especially if Easter falls late in the year.

Saas-Fee village is centred on narrow streets lined by traditional chalets and cow sheds, with their winter occupants still visible. The long main street has several shops, a good variety of restaurants and some lively bars. Although its après ski scene and nightlife is subdued compared to the more international resorts of Zermatt and Verbier.

Some hotels are a long walk from the slopes, but this can be an opportunity to stop and enjoy the many distractions along the way. However, lockers are available for your equipment at the bottom of the ski slopes. Alternatively, an electric taxi or a good bus system runs that through the village and some hotels do automatically provide this service.

Saas Fee caters for all standards of skier.  There is an abundance of relatively easy pistes mainly for the beginner/intermediate skier and snowboarder. The resort is known for maintaining its slopes in excellent condition. There is a choice of ski schools with mainly English speaking instructors. The nursery slopes are located next to the village and close to the resort kindergarten.

For the more advanced skier there are off-piste and backcountry opportunities, although this can be fairly difficult, especially around the glacier and a guide is recommended. There are also a few off-piste runs and some tracks through the trees. The terrain park often changes but mainly consists of half pipe, three big kickers and a large range of rails.

Off-mountain activities include the Feeblitz Bobsleigh, a 900m long toboggan run which is great fun for the whole family, the world’s largest ice grotto and ice skating, snowshoe trekking, as well as horse-drawn sleigh rides and husky rides. For the adventurous there is also the two 70-metre long hanging bridges.
