Courmayeur
Nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc, the sophisticated resort of Courmayeur is one of the top ski resorts in the Aosta Valley. This traditional old village has plenty of charm and superb skiing. The resort’s has an appealing international atmosphere and is a great place for people watching.
Courmayeur overlooks the high glacial slopes of Mont Blanc and has stunning views of the the Cresta d’Arp and Cresta Youla from high altitude.
The town has quaint cobbled streets, mainly traffic free, lined with stylish shops, top-end designer boutiques, chic bars and restaurants. Its après ski has something for everyone from the classy clubs to ritzy bars to sit back and watch the world go by.
The main access to the slopes is by gondola or cable cars, with fast lift connections above them.
The ski area is made up of two distinct areas and there are lots of slopes for the intermediate skier, although the beginner and expert terrain is a little less extensive. Possibilities for off piste skiing abound, although there is not much in the way of snowboarding and there is no terrain park. The mountain restaurants are reportedly some of the best of any of the Italian resorts.
