The village of Berwang, the highest in Tyrol’s Zugspitz Arena is set in a beautiful valley, surrounded by majestic peaks and gentle slopes. This is a perfect example of what one would imagine a Tyrolean village to be.
The skiing area of Berwang is not a huge, but is perfect for families with children or those escaping the crowds. A short transfer time from Innsbruck airport makes Berwang an ideal option for ski weekends, and short breaks. .
Skiers and boarder come into their own in Berwang without the usual ski circus: easy to more demanding runs take you right to the middle of town. For those seeking a greater ski area, the ski domain of Zugspitze includes the close by villages of Ehrwald and Lermoos, which gives you access to 147km of beautifully prepared slopes which are easily accessible by a regular bus services.
Berwang itself offers a little bit of everything guests need – shopping, leisure activities and entertainment, whilst the charming mountain restaurants are the perfect place to enjoy local specialities or a glüwein or two.
As the resort is primarily a family destination, the nightlife is lively, but not excessive. Evening activities include twice weekly night skiing or night tobogganing on floodlit pistes and the ‘Schirmbar’, located beside the Singer’s Stuben at the valley station is great après ski venue.
Off the slopes, Berwang invites you to try some tobogganing, curling, ice-skating, snow shoe walks or winter hiking in the heart of the magical mountains and adorable landscapes around, or some 20 kms of cross country trails.
