At the heart of the Tarentaise Valley, the resort of Sainte-Foy is seen as the refuge for those who love tradition and the conservation of nature. Situated in the middle of the largest ski areas in the Tarentaise Valley (Val d’Isère, Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne, La Rosière), the resort’s ski area ranges from 1530m to 2620 and offers the chance to ski amongst the larch and spruce trees as well as along the many off piste runs and the resort’s freeride course.
It is a great place to learn to ski and further develop your skills, and for the more adventurous members of the family there is some of the best off piste skiing in the Alps.
The newly designed resort, set amongst the trees, has been built in the traditional alpine village style of pitched roofs and wooden balconies using locally sourced stone and wood. The lifts, nursery slopes and shops are within easy reach within this compact resort.
Sainte Foy has a relaxed unspoilt atmosphere and there are a surprising amount of restaurants, cafés and bars in the resort and surrounding villages, just a short taxi drive away. Another dining option, for those seeking a relaxed evening, would be to enjoy the luxury of hiring a private chef to create a sumptuous meal of your choice in the comfort of your apartment.
The lift system goes straight to a height of 2620 metres and offers something for everyone amongst its uncrowded pistes and untracked powder. There are two gentle nursery slopes served by two magic carpets close to the resort centre and a few easy green and blue runs located just above the nursery slopes. Intermediate skiers have some long blue runs and steeper red runs to progress onto and for the more experienced skier and there are some challenging routes through the trees and a few good red and black runs. Guides offer off piste skiing options to all good level skiers.
Whilst many people head back to base for lunchtime refreshments, there are rustic mountain restaurants to tempt you with their traditional dishes and cosy atmosphere.
Off-mountain activities include dog sledding, ski biking and heli-skiing.
